Kapatiran: More Than Just a Short-Lived Event

Written by: Beatrice Flores 12-2

Kapatiran SY 2018-2019 was held on Friday, July 6th, marking the end of the first official week of High School for the Freshmen and the first last of the Seniors. This year’s Kapatiran focused more on group bonding. Pairs were able to enjoy the time and form stronger ties with other groups.

Prior to the event proper held on July 6th, the Kapatiran started on Monday, July 2nd, with the handing out of tasks for the Freshmen and the reveal of their respective Senior partners. The event proper itself started off with an ice-breaker to get to know each other more, the ranking game, followed by team-building centers, a boodle fight for lunch where kapsisters ate kamayan style as per se the Filipino tradition, soon followed by a school-wide Amazing Race wherein clues were scattered for groups to find, ending with an awards ceremony for teams who exhibited outstanding traits and companionship throughout the event.

Needless to say, by the end of the activity proper, the Seniors and Freshmen had made promises of future bonding and exchanged words of encouragement which brought smiles to their faces and imprinted a memory which would last for a lifetime.
