“The Earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” (Psalm 24:1)
This passage encapsulates what the Season of Creation is all about. Christians worldwide celebrate this 5-week season through prayer and action, and the Assumption community was one with them as they held SY 2021 - 2022’s Ecology Month event, with the theme: “A Home for All: Renewing the Oikos of God”.
The Alay Kapwa at Kalikasan (AKK) team launched the weekly Earth Lover’s Challenge which was practiced throughout September. Students participated in challenges like Earth Hour Sacrifice and the Eco Song Rendition which allowed them to show their love for our common home.

In addition to these, AKK launched its partnership withWorld Wide Fund for Nature to enrich its classes from Grades 4-7. Moreover, the daily Morning Prayers featured excerpts from Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’: On Care for Our Common Home.
The fifth week of the Stewardship and Ecology month, September 27 to October 3, was dedicated to the 2022 Virtual Eco Fair in collaboration with the AA Family Council. Being the first of its kind, the event was held on Facebook and was open from 8 AM until 9 PM. The virtual marketplace featured 31 partner-sellers. Soap, woven baskets, food, and other eco-friendly products were up for sale. In the age of online shopping, the Virtual Eco Fair helped bring the AA community closer to the school’s goal of a cleaner, greener, and better-taken-care-of Earth.
The celebration of Ecology Month 2021 strengthened the AA community’s relationships with one another and allowed its members to truly emulate the spirit of stewardship.
The new activities held for this year’s Ecology Month celebration served as an impetus for the community to live out genuine care for God’s creation.
