With the theme “AA in Mission, Christ in Action”, Grades 9 to 12, along with the faculty and staff of Assumption Antipolo, gathered to celebrate the annual vigil last December 17 and the Dawn Mass last December 18. With this event being highly inspired by the World Youth Day in Panama City held earlier this January 2019, it prepared the Assumption community for the nearing Christmas season through different displays of faith and praise.

The first part of the Youth Praise and Vigil activities included two talks. The Senior High School students had Clarisse Gomez, an Old Girl from Assumption San Lorenzo, who discussed joy and the joyful mysteries. Brother Mon, from The Feast Bay Area, joined Grades 9 and 10 in discussing how all are made for relationships with both God and others. For the Youth Praise activity, the students were divided into groups that had members from the different participating levels. The AA teachers’ band, HSDC, and Sulyap Lahi led the event’s flow of activities, dance, and music in lifting these performances to their faith.

Sr. Bernadette, RA led a procession dedicated to stations featuring saints who acted as ‘Witnesses of Mission’ in their faith journey. Throughout the night, the Vigil participants indulged themselves in prayer through the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, confession, and sacred space activities.

Fr. Bong Bayaras, SVD presided the dawn mass the following morning, which had also been open for others outside the Assumption Antipolo community to participate in. All mass-goers were then invited to a simple salu-salo sponsored by the Family Council that same morning as well, concluding the event and officially marking the start of the Christmas break for the community.
