The Assumption Antipolo community welcomed the delegates of Assumption Kokusai last July 30, 2018. The annual student exchange’s purpose is for the delegates to immerse themselves in the culture of another country.
The day started with the Morning Prayer wherein Nycah Acosta, a senior who was also a delegate in the Japan Exchange Program last April 2018, shared her experiences to the student body. After the prayer, Ms. Marie Grace Magtaas, the school directress, officially welcomed the delegates from Japan and the counterparts from Assumption San Lorenzo. The Japanese delegates then introduced themselves with warm applause and cheers from the student body. After introductions, the AA community offered various performance for the delegates to give them a taste of the Filipino culture. Performances include the song, “Mr. Kupido” from The Komusikasyon, a kulintang song number from the Salinkamusika Club, and a local dance from the Creative Dance Club.
The program concluded with a few words by Rochelle Serrano, the Student Council President. She spoke about making new friends and unforgettable experiences during their stay in the Philippines.
This year’s exchange is truly marked a special one, as this is the first delegation after the announcement that the Province of Japan will join the other Southeast Asian countries under the new name of Province of Asia-Pacific.
